Novelty Search
A novelty search aims to determine whether an invention is in fact novel (or new). A novelty search may take many forms, depending on the subject are being
searched and the budget available.
Often a novelty search will involve searching a number of sources. Each novelty search varies in the degree of reviewing performed by us. We will discuss with
you the costs and benefits of various combinations of data sources and reviewing methodologies in order to maximise the cost effectiveness of the search.
When a fixed price is quoted at the time of instruction we will search the most appropriate records to give the widest range of information until we have expended
the budget or located a record or records that provides you with the Prior Art you require. These searches may not be intended to be exhaustive but they are quite
effective in disclosing the state of the art subject matter searched.
Validity Search
A validity search is conducted in the same way as a novelty search; however, the search is limited to subject matter disclosed before the priority date of the patent
claims that you are trying to invalidate or seek an assessment on.
